Fully Automatic Dough Divider Rounder — Load Once, Hands-Free Portioning

R&M fully automatic dough divider rounder machines divide and round dough in a single automatic cycle. Load the dough, press START, and the machine portions the mass into uniform pieces and shapes them into smooth dough balls — 10–36 pieces per batch cycle. The dividing weight is adjustable to match your bun or roll size, and every machine ships with three non-stick trays. Built for bakeries and food producers that have outgrown manual portioning but need consistent, repeatable output.

How Fully Automatic Operation Changes Your Production Flow

The core difference between this series and the semi-auto RMG-S models is what the operator has to do between batches. With semi-auto, the operator manually activates each press cycle. With the fully automatic RMG-A, the machine cycles independently — the operator loads the dough, presses start, and the machine completes the divide-and-round sequence without any manual press or lever action.

For a high-volume back kitchen running back-to-back batches, this frees the operator to move trays, manage proofing, or run other equipment in parallel. The machine doesn’t wait for the operator between cycles — it runs at its own pace until the dough is processed.

This is not a marginal difference in practice. In a bakery producing 1,500–3,000 pieces per shift, eliminating the manual activation step per cycle adds up to meaningful time savings and reduces operator fatigue over a full shift.

Choosing the Right Model

All five models of this fully automatic dough divider rounder share the same physical footprint (550 × 650mm) and the same machine weight. The only variable is the mold — which sets the number of pieces per cycle and the compatible dough weight range.

  • RMG-10A (200–300g): Large rolls, individual bread portions, substantial burger buns. Ten pieces per cycle at this weight class is standard for artisan-focused commercial bakeries.
  • RMG-16A (100–200g): The most commonly ordered model — covers standard hamburger and hot dog bun weights, medium dinner rolls, and ciabatta rolls.
  • RMG-26A (50–140g): Slider buns, smaller dinner rolls, light sandwich rolls. For hotel breakfast operations and fast-casual chains.
  • RMG-30A (30–100g): Small soft rolls, Portuguese rolls, light brioche portions. Thirty pieces per cycle suits operations with continuous demand at this size.
  • RMG-36A (20–70g): High-count small roll production. Thirty-six pieces per cycle — the highest output per press in this range.

What Dough Types Work in These Machines

Standard enriched dough (burger buns, dinner rolls, brioche). Enriched doughs with moderate hydration and added fats are the ideal match for a fully automatic dough divider rounder. They portion cleanly and round smoothly, producing consistently shaped balls with good surface tension. For background on hydration, gluten development, and enrichment, see the Wikipedia article on dough.

Lean bread dough (baguette portions, ciabatta pre-shapes). Lean, higher-hydration doughs require more attention to scaling and loading weight. The machine handles these — most commercial bakeries using the RMG-A for lean dough find that keeping hydration below 70% gives the most consistent results.

Pizza dough (RMG-10A and RMG-16A). Pizza dough balls in the 150–300g range fit the RMG-10A and RMG-16A. The automatic rounding produces a tight ball ready for bench rest — consistent size means consistent bake time across all pizzas in a service.

Dough types that are not a match. Very high hydration doughs (above 75%), heavily laminated doughs (croissant), and doughs with large inclusions (nuts, dried fruit) are not suitable for batch-type divider rounders. For these, contact us about alternative portioning methods.

Industrial Build for Continuous Use

At 485kg, this fully automatic dough divider rounder is a permanent installation — once it is in position in your production area, it stays there. The weight reflects a heavy-duty frame designed to absorb the press force of thousands of cycles per day without fatigue or drift in portion accuracy.

1.5KW motor: Double the power of the semi-auto series. The higher drive power supports the automated cycling mechanism and maintains consistent press force throughout the working day.

Dual voltage: 220V single-phase for smaller commercial operations; 380V three-phase for factory environments. Both deliver equivalent machine performance.

Consistent portion accuracy: Automatic cycling removes human variability from the activation step. Combined with the machine’s mold-based portioning, the piece weight consistency cycle-to-cycle is high — important for operations where portion weight affects cost control and end-product quality.

Fully Automatic vs. Semi-Auto — Practical Decision Guide

Fully Automatic (RMG-A)Semi-Auto (RMG-S)

Potencia1.5KW0.75KW
Machine weight485kg310kg
Best daily output1,000+ pieces/shift300–1,000 pieces/shift

If your operation produces consistent daily volume above 1,000 pieces per shift and operator time is a constraint, the fully automatic model pays back the cost difference in labor savings within a reasonable period. For lower-volume operations, the semi-auto is a better capital allocation.

Preguntas frecuentes

How does a fully automatic dough divider rounder compare to a semi-automatic model?

The automatic model suits operations producing high daily volume (typically 1,000+ pieces per shift) where freeing the operator between cycles matters. The semi-auto is better for moderate volumes where the capital difference is a priority. Both produce the same piece quality.

Does the operator need to be present during the cycle?

The machine runs its cycle independently after start. The operator needs to be present to remove the portioned pieces and reload the next dough mass — the machine does not feed itself. For fully automated continuous production, contact us about our continuous divider and conical rounder combo.

What is the cycle time per batch?

One press cycle completes in approximately 10–20 seconds depending on model and dough consistency. An operator running back-to-back cycles can produce 15–20 batches per hour — equivalent to 150–720 pieces per hour depending on the model.

Can I use this machine on a 220V single-phase supply?

Yes. All five models support both 220V/50Hz single phase and 380V/50Hz three phase. Specify your supply voltage at order.

What is the difference between the RMG-36A and RMG-30A?

The RMG-36A produces 36 pieces per cycle at 20–70g. The RMG-30A produces 30 pieces at 30–100g. If your target dough weight falls in the 30–70g range, either works — the RMG-36A gives slightly higher output per cycle. Above 70g, the RMG-30A is the better match.
